Openings
10 exterior vents

Stainless steel ember mesh, 1/8 in. nominal

Insurer-ready completion record
What We Found
This wooded Portola Valley home had ten exterior vents with screening open enough to let wind-driven embers reach the attic and crawlspace: two gable vents, one bump-out base screen, and seven crawlspace vents. Ember intrusion through vents is one of the most common ways homes ignite during a wildfire.
What FireRoofs Did
FireRoofs retrofitted all ten openings with noncombustible, corrosion-resistant stainless steel mesh at a nominal one-eighth inch opening, installed behind the existing screens. Each opening was mechanically fastened with stainless hardware and perimeter sealed with fire-rated caulking and fire-blocking foam, so the home still breathes but resists ember entry. The work meets California's Safer From Wildfires ember-resistant vent standards.
What Was Documented for Insurance
The homeowner received a written completion record with before and after photographs and a signed contractor statement, formatted for their insurance broker in support of an ember-resistant vent credit. A two year workmanship warranty applies.
